Placement at the Time of Graduation

The survey, which is filled in at the time of graduation is conducted annually in cooperation with SEFE, The Finnish Association of Business School Graduates.

Employment Statistics - Graduates in 2012

Practically all M.Sc. graduates from the Aalto University School of Business are employed upon or soon after graduation. The common graduate is employed with a fair salary by the private sector in the Helsinki capital area. Some 8 percent move abroad for work. In 2012, 384 M.Sc. graduates responded to School of Business/SEFE survey at the time of graduation.

In total, 86 % of the graduates were employed upon graduation. First employment was commonly found in the private sector (82 % of graduates), while the public sector employed 9 % and universities 5 % of the M.Sc graduates from the School of Business.

The compatibility of the education with the employment was considered to be excellent or good by 90 % of the respondents. Over half of the graduates (54 %) found placement as an expert/professional. About 15 % of the graduates were employed into management level positions while 21 % were employed as salaried employees.

M.Sc. placement by industry was the following: general administration 27 %, accounting 25 %, marketing (incl. sales) 17 %, service sector 6 %, IT 5 %, teaching and research 4 %, HR 3 %, logistics 2 %, secretarial and assisting duties 2 % and other duties 9 %.

The monthly starting salary for the graduates (gross) was 3 482 € on average and median 3 200 €.
