The School of Economics celebrated 100 years of operation
26.01.2011 The School of Economics began celebrating its 100th anniversary last October, when 1,300 graduates from different decades met for an alumni gala.

The program covers the most important sectors in the fields of strategy, marketing, financial administration and leadership. Sirkka Hämäläinen nominated the Alumna of the Year

Finance Department at the School of Economics develops its alumni network with an alumni book

Aalto EE improved its position by two at the Financial Times ranking 2011
10.05.2011 Aalto University Executive Education (Aalto EE) was ranked 44th in the Fi-nancial Times Executive Educations ranking’s overall listing in 2011. A positive development trend continued this year and Aalto EE improved its position by two. In the Nordic Countries Aalto EE was ranked 2nd and in Europe 19th.

17.06.2011 The Aalto University Board has discussed the university’s future campus solution. The board decided that the main campus of Aalto University will be located in Otaniemi, Espoo. This decision was in line with the proposal previously delivered to students and staff members. The model with one main campus is best for supporting the mission of Aalto University as a multidisciplinary and creative university.

08.07.2011 For studying toward a master's degree in economic s and business administration at the Aalto University School of Economics, 3,323 first-choice applicants participated in the joint application process for economics and business administration studies. The total number of applicants through the bachelor’s level admissions routes to the School of Economics' Töölö campus was 3,639.The number of applicants compared to last year remained nearly unchanged.

A more open source code can accelerate business

Today, jealously guarding your own product may even function to slow down your business, demonstrate researchers from Aalto University School of Economics in two articles published in the journal IEEE Software. The journal is targeted to software professionals. In the articles published, the researchers consider the effects of distributing open source code to business and inter-company relations.

24.10.2011 Financial Times Executive MBA Ranking 2011 results were published on Monday September 24, 2011. Aalto Executive MBA (Aalto EMBA) Program offered by Aalto University Executive Education (Aalto EE) was awarded with an excellent result and claimed a position as the number one EMBA Program in the Nordic Countries. For the first time Aalto EMBA Program left clearly behind the two traditional Scandinavian business schools, Stockholm School of Economics (founded in 1909) and Copenhagen Business School (founded in 1917). In FT’s global ranking Aalto EMBA Program is now ranked 53rd which is 9 places higher than previous year.

School of Economics retained its good position in Financial Times ranking
02.12.2011 The Aalto University School of Economics was ranked 22nd in the “European Business Schools Ranking 2011” published by the Financial Times newspaper on 5 December 2011. The ranking lists the 75 best business schools in the world. Last year, Aalto University School of Economics held the same position. The Aalto University School of Economics remains the only Finnish business school on the list. Stockholm School of Economics, in position 19, was the only Nordic business school to place higher than Aalto University School of Economics on the list.
